Swimming – World Cup Berlin

21 – 23 October 2022

Tai Pearson (grade 9) and Taylor Luck (grade 11) were part of the South African swimming contingent that participated at the first leg of the three leg Swimming World Cup Series hosted in Berlin, Germany. The Swimming World Cup is swum in a 25m Short Course Meters pool and is a senior international competition where World and Olympic Champions participate to score points based on their rankings and FINA points to win their share of the overall prize purse of $1.200.000 USD.

Tai and Taylor did extremely well racing against some of the fastest professional swimmers on the planet. Tai participated in five events and swam new personal best times in all five events. Tai’s 100m Butterfly time converts to a FINA World Juniors qualifying time. Taylor participated in six events and swam five new personal best times. Taylors 100m Freestyle time also converts to a FINA World Juniors qualifying time. Both boys gained invaluable experience and insight into international competitions, which is going to help them as they prepare for future international competitions next year. Both boys swim for Vineyard Aquatics Club, which is situated in the Southern Suburbs. We look forward to seeing results that are more exceptional from both boys as the season progresses.
