The group managed to produce the fourth best Bachelor pass rate in 10 years and more boys managed to get seven or more A symbols, than many groups before them.

Last year, the Matric Group achieved a Bachelor pass rate of 92.2%. The 2024 cohort improved on this slightly by achieving a Bachelor pass rate of 92.8% while 98% of this group qualify for tertiary study. 99.4% of the Rondebosch group passed the examination. The 167 candidates achieved 391 A symbols with an average distinction rate of 2.3 per pupil. The group average was 70.4 %. 45 boys had an average of above 80%, of whom 17 averaged above 90%.

24 students achieved seven or more A symbols. Of this group, one student, Daniel Martin, achieved an astounding 10 A symbols, 7 achieved 9 distinctions while 5 boys achieved 8 A’s and a further 10, 7 A symbols. 79 of the group had an average of above 70%. Special mention must go to Nicholas Schreiber who, in a late dash, came first in the grade with 9 subject distinctions of which 5 are above 95%. Nicholas also attained an outstanding 100% for Economics. In addition, and most importantly, Nicholas also achieved the outstanding result of coming 3rd in the NSC in the country overall. We are so proud of him.

Second was Muhammad Patel with an average of 95.3% and third was Jonathan Schlesinger with an average of 94.3%. Others who achieved 100% in individual subjects were Samuel Berry for Economics, Jonathan Schlesinger for Engineering and Graphic Design and Benn McWilliam for Visual Arts.

This performance, in the context of the overall results of the NSC nationally and in the Western Cape and in the context of public boys’ schooling, is outstanding but more so, given this group’s commitment to a broad range of school activities and sporting codes, where they achieved results amongst the best in the country, reflects a school programme that encourages achievement in many spheres whilst always bearing in mind academic outcomes.

We are very proud of the class of 2024 and all who have supported them in their quest to grow higher and wider.
