It is with immense pride that Rondebosch Boys’ High School is proud to host the inaugural Football U17 Youth Cup 2022.  This special event is our first football tournament of this magnitude since 2006, whereby the late, Roy Hellenberg, introduced a tournament for the U15, U16, and U19 age groups.   Events of this nature are typically hosted by traditional school sports, and we are incredibly proud of how far football has come along, since its introduction at our school which began with only two age groups. Over the years we have seen football increase to six teams and we are pleased to be one of the few schools in the Western Cape that can proudly boast this accolade.  Football is now a fully-fledged winter sport at Rondebosch Boys’ High School, which is played alongside two of our other major winter sports, Rugby and Hockey.  ‘Bosch football has indeed grown and it is fitting to launch our U17 football tournament in the school’s 125th anniversary year. This tournament is dubbed the “Youth Cup”, played by boys who are still in the prime of their youth.

We welcome schools from near and far and hope that all the players and coaches enjoy this occasion with us. May we all learn and grow from this experience, and play matches with full hearts in the spirit of true friendship and fair play. My personal wish is for football to be the ultimate winner as we showcase the abundance of talent on display from all our participating schools.

Thank you to SuperSport Schools for supporting football and for broadcasting the momentous occasion of Football U17 Youth Cup 2022 at Rondebosch Boys’ High School.  This tournament would not have been possible without the support of our event sponsors, Brights Hardware and Hype Energy Drinks.  A very special thank you to Feedem, Mike’s Sports, and to all those behind the scenes who have made this event a reality.  Finally, thank you to our loyal 1st Team sponsor, Constantia BMW, and Laurus Sport for the continued support of RBHS Football.
