Our Bosch 125 Diversity Programme

The Old Boys’ Union’s Bosch 125 Diversity Programme was established leading up Rondebosch’s 125th celebrations (in 2022) to provide school fees and other essential expenses for boys from less privileged backgrounds. This begins in the earliest grades to enable them to enjoy the full, inclusive Rondebosch experience.

Old Boys’ support is invaluable, through the Vuleka Programme (‘opening doors’), in enabling the boys to be integrated into Rondebosch, and also assists both schools to continue to further transform to better reflect our South African society.

Initially this programme and that of the Vuleka Trust was to mainly assist boys during their formative years at the Prep School. Though the Old Boys’ Union this fund will pay two boys’ High School fees from 2021 through to when they are E2025s.

In addition to school fees (and in some cases boarding fees), there are various activities and associated costs which help boys be fully part of the school including:

  • Extra lessons and remedial and language support
  • Uniforms, school bags, sports kit & stationery
  • Access to the internet – this is particularly important with the extensive online learning which the boys have had to undertake this year during the lockdown, and with the subsequent restricted return to school which includes ‘off-school’ days / weeks at home studying.
  • Data on phone (many teachers and sports coaches communicate with boys using WhatsApp)
  • Music lessons
  • Extramural activities, tours & school outings
  • Transport
  • Educational psychologist assessments & advice
  • Afterschool Care (Little Bosch & Prep boys)

Please consider donating R125 (or multiples thereof) per month to the Bosch 125 Diversity Fund as part of our 125th celebrations to assist boys at Rondebosch. Alternatively an once-off donation may be made.

Your donation, which is (SA) income tax deductible, may be made by monthly or annual debit order, stop order or EFT. If you prefer to make a once off contribution then you may use the EFT or SnapScan options.

In all cases please complete the donation form and return it to the Old Boys’ Union office so that we have a record of your name and details and can personally thank you.

Your and your fellow Old Boys’ support will be invaluable in enabling boys to be fully integrated into Rondebosch, and assist both schools to continue to further transform to better reflect our diverse South African society.

We thank those Old Boys who have already made contributions to support these boys, at R125 per month (or multiples thereof) as part of Rondebosch 125th anniversary.
