Accolade for Zapiro (E1976)

Rondebosch Old Boy Jonathan ‘Zapiro’ Shapiro (E1976) has been bestowed the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters) by the Republic of France.  The Old Boys’ Union and the Rondebosch community congratulates Jonathan on this exceptional accolade in recognition of his world famous work as cartoonist.

The French Ambassador bestowed the prestigious honour on Jonathan on behalf of French President Emmanuel Macron saying he shares “the values that define and guide the Republic: the trilogy, equality, liberty and fraternity, resonate perfectly with who you are, what you believe in and what you stand for”.
