As with every year we wait nervously in anticipation of the ‘big day’. Will the wind blow?(yes guaranteed), will it be cancelled due to water shortages or fires? This year I can almost say that we had the perfect day. Considering all that is happening around the world with Covid-19 this was probably the last event to be held in South Africa before social distancing started. It is with this in mind that we can look back with fond memories and be grateful to have had one of our biggest fund raisers for the year.
Of the 20 entries that we received, we had 7 riders from GrassRoots Youth Academy, 7 pupils from RBHS and 6 AMAZING teachers from RBPS.
Last year Pete Woodard took on the RBPS challenge alone and raised an amazing amount of R13 568. This year with the support of 5 teachers the 6 of them raised an incredible R39 750 and they are hoping to better this again next year!
These 20 riders were sponsored by corporates and individuals alike – without the support of the RBPS parents, members of our community and corporates were would not have been able to raise a total of R90 481,84
Through these donations we will be able to grow our funding and offer more boys the opportunity to attend RBPS and continue to support the boys we currently have. We are committed to the power of diversity and strive continuously to build a balanced and inclusive school community, where no family feels under-represented, to prepare our boys effectively for the future. We have now also extended the Trust’s mandate to continue to support boys who have transitioned to RBHS.
