The School offers several scholarships primarily to boys entering Grade 8, some of which run for the full five years. Scholarships are awarded according to academic criteria, sporting ability or musical accomplishment. Candidates may be required to sit an examination. Scholarships are awarded at the school’s discretion.

Academic Scholarship
Applicants are normally within the top 10% of their grade, although anyone may apply. Candidates write a scholarship examination which comprises English, Mathematics and Logic. Taking the examination does not commit the candidate to attendance at RBHS nor does it guarantee acceptance.

Sir Frank Berman Music Old Boys’ Union Centenary Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded from time to time at the discretion of the school. Selection is based onapplications and auditions which take place for the Music Scholarship.

Music Scholarship for Grade 8
Scholarships are awarded for instrumental proficiency and all-round musical ability. A minimum standard of Grade 4 (practical) is required. Auditions are open to all string, brass, and woodwind (except recorder) players, as well as percussionists, pianists and singers. Successful candidates must take Music as an academic subject and take an active part in the cultural and sporting life of RBHS.

Sports Scholarships
Candidates must play a sport at provincial level (or be of provincial ability) and play that sport for RBHS.

Carleton Lloyd Education Trust Scholarships: Rugby and Cricket
Scholarships are offered to boys who excel at rugby and/or cricket. These are awarded in addition to the sports scholarships offered by the school.

A scholarship is offered to a pupil who shows potential as a cricket player. This is awarded in addition to the sports scholarships offered by the School.
