Civic and Social Responsibility
Civic and Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as the responsibility of a citizen and is comprised of actions and attitudes associated with democratic governance and social participation. It is an ethical framework which suggests that all people should work and cooperate with other individuals and organisations for the benefit of society at large. A socially cohesive community works towards the wellbeing of all its members. It fights exclusion and marginalisation, creates a sense of belonging, promotes trust and offers its members the opportunity to develop a progressive mindset.

CSR Outreach
Rondebosch Boys’ High School is actively involved in a number of local, national and international projects.
Langa Community Project
This project was born out of the Black Identity discussions and is a collaboration with Thembani Primary School. Grade 8 and 9 boys tutor learners, in Mathematics and English, and play games with them. The objective of the project is twofold. Firstly, our boys will impart their Mathematics and English skills to the young learners. Secondly, by interacting with the students of Thembani Primary our boys will improve their social and cultural literacy.

Britsum Care (Ceres)
We began our Journey Outreach Projects in 2014 where we worked with the learners and staff of Britsum Primary School in Ceres. Over a five year period, our Journeymen actively engaged with the pupils of Britsum in the classroom and on the sports field. They leveled a field, built a storeroom, extended the admin block to create a front office for the admin staff, built a bridge over a small stream and constructed a jungle gym.
In 2019, the Journey venue shifted to the Breede River Valley and there we interacted with Breeded River Primary School. Our Journeymen painted the classrooms, introduced chess to the learners and assisted with sports coaching. As part of the Outreach Programme, our group of Bosch boys levelled the school soccer field, and ran a soccer tournament.
In 2021 our Journey venue moved to Bainskloof (Wellington area) and contact was made with the Head of Groenberg Primary School. An agreement was reached that our Journey boys will visit the school at the end of November 2022, whilst on the Journey Programme. This will mark the start of a new chapter of support in terms of our Journey Outreach Programme.
Transkei Outreach
Rondebosch has a proud tradition of service in the Transkei. Since 2015, our boys have travelled to the Eastern Cape to teach at Isolomzi Secondary School and more recently at Tyali Secondary School. This project has grown in stature and makes a significant contribution to the Matric pass rates at these schools. Our boys are enriched by the experience and enjoy the many opportunities to share their knowledge and make new friendships.
Transkei Outreach

International Exchange Programmes
We run a couple of international exchange programmes:
Minnetonka High School, Minnesota, USA – every alternate year a group of our boys (from Grades 9 – 12) have the opportunity to visit the USA. In exchange, students from Minnetonka High School visit South Africa.
Wrekin College, UK – each year two RBHS cricket players spend 1 – 2 months at Wrekin College. In exchange, we host two Wrekin College rugby players.
