Scholarships

The School offers several scholarships primarily to boys entering Grade 8, some of which run for the full five years. Scholarships are awarded according to academic criteria, sporting ability or musical accomplishment. Candidates may be required to sit an examination. Scholarships are awarded at the school’s discretion.

Academic Scholarship – Applications for Grade 8 2026

Applicants are normally within the top 10% of their grade, although anyone may apply. Candidates write a scholarship examination which comprises English, Mathematics and Logic. Taking the examination does not commit the candidate to attendance at RBHS nor does it guarantee acceptance.

Academic Scholarship Applications for 2026 are closed.

Music Scholarship – Applications for Grade 8 2026

Scholarships are awarded for instrumental proficiency and all-round musical ability. A minimum standard of Grade 4 (practical) is required. Auditions are open to all string, brass, and woodwind (except recorder) players, as well as percussionists, pianists and singers. Successful candidates must take Music as an academic subject and take an active part in the cultural and sporting life of RBHS.

Music Scholarship Applications for 2026 are closed.

Sport Scholarship – there are no scholarships for application

We do not offer sports scholarships that are available for general application. Within our guidelines and budgetary constraints, the Heads of our various sports codes will identify and approach the top candidates from their respective sports. Typically, these candidates are recognised as the best athletes in their fields within our province and often have prior representation at Provincial or National level. However, only a select few of the top candidates will be awarded a scholarship.

Carleton Lloyd Education Trust Scholarships:
Carleton Lloyd Education Trust Scholarships are offered to boys with exceptional abilities. The Trustees expect recipients to play a full part in the life of the school and participate in the many activities on offer. These are awarded in addition to the scholarships offered by the school.
