Our History

Little Bosch Grade R was established in 2004 by the Headmaster of Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School, Tony Ryan, and a team of consultants. With the expert guidance of Meryl Hewett-Fourie, an ECD specialist, the existing “Kiddywinkles After Care” in Laidlaw Road was converted into a Grade R facility for 75 children. This included accepting girls!

In 2006, an extra wing was built to accommodate the growing aftercare need for RBPS boys and Oakhurst girls. In 2008, after many staffing changes and a need to maintain numbers, it was decided to only accept boys into Grade R though girls from Oakhurst would still be allowed to attend the aftercare. Shelagh Scholtz was appointed Head of Little Bosch, which enabled her to manage the entire Foundation Phase, from Grade R – 3. The successful programme was attracting many interested applicants and in 2012 two additional classrooms were constructed to increase the Grade R intake to accommodate 100 boys.

In 2018, additional storage facilities were built and the upstairs section was extended to accommodate two therapy rooms – for a full-time occupational therapist and a speech and language therapist.
