Our History

Little Bosch Grade R has a rich history of growth and transformation. Established in 2004 by Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School Headmaster, Tony Ryan, and a team of consultants, the facility was developed under the expert guidance of ECD specialist, Meryl Hewett-Fourie. The existing Kiddywinkles After Care in Laidlaw Road was converted into a dedicated Grade R facility for 75 children, initially welcoming both boys and girls.

As demand grew, an additional wing was built in 2006 to cater to the increasing aftercare needs of RBPS boys and Oakhurst girls. In 2008, with evolving staffing requirements and a focus on maintaining student numbers, the decision was made to exclusively admit boys into Grade R, while still allowing Oakhurst girls to attend the aftercare programme. Leadership transitioned to Shelagh Scholtz, who was appointed as Head of Little Bosch, enabling her to oversee the entire Foundation Phase from Grade R to Grade 3.

The success of the programme led to further expansion, with two additional classrooms constructed in 2012 to accommodate 100 Grade R boys. The development continued in 2018, with the addition of storage facilities and an upstairs extension housing therapy rooms for a full-time occupational therapist and a speech and language therapist, ensuring a holistic support system for learners.

In 2024, Little Bosch welcomed a new chapter in its leadership journey as Mrs. Muir joined the family as Head, bringing her expertise and passion for early childhood education to further strengthen our commitment to excellence. Her arrival marks an exciting phase in Little Bosch’s legacy of nurturing young learners and preparing them for success.
