Academic Support
The academic support department consists of a team of 6 who work collaboratively to meet the individual needs of boys who have been referred to us either by their teachers, parents or outside professionals such as educational psychologists.
The team includes:
- 3 academic support teachers
- A counsellor
- An occupational therapist
- A speech & language therapist
The team functions as a unit to help identify areas of concern/barriers to learning that boys are experiencing in the classroom as well as behavioural and emotional issues that may be affecting their ability to function effectively within the classroom setting. We refer to educational psychologists, paediatricians, psychiatrists and other professionals as and when the need arises.
Our School Based Support Team (SBST) meets regularly to discuss the intervention and support that we offer and monitors the progress of the boys who are receiving support. We also meet with class teachers, parents and psychologists to discuss appropriate intervention strategies and to gain a more in depth understanding of the individual strengths and weaknesses of the boys we are working with.
Our focus is to support boys with barriers to learning to reach their potential. We are based in the house where the finance offices are.
