The Arts

Culture at the Lilacs has its own distinctive atmosphere. With its wooden floors, sash windows, brass door knobs and pressed ceilings, this unique building is a perfect environment for inspiring creativity!

All of our boys attend Art classes at the Lilacs and our busy Art Department hosts an exhibition every second year. Our school is rich in drama, which is offered as an extra mural. In addition, the Foundation Phase alternates with the Intermediate Phase in producing a major performance every third year.

Our Music Department fosters a love and appreciation for music, which has resulted in a fine reputation for excellence in this area. Individual music tuition is offered to boys from Grade 3. Many boys participate in our ensemble programme which include two choirs, wind band, jazz band, orchestra, string ensemble and drum lines. There are fun themed concerts for each age group during the year as well as opportunities for our groups to perform in eisteddfods, joint concerts with other schools as well as community outreach programmes.

Our afternoon extramural cultural programme includes  two art clubs, a drama club and Early Act which are all run by the school while Hip-Hop Dance and Kids Clay are options as private extramurals.
