Foundation Phase Grade 1- 3
In the Foundation Phase, we are passionate about nurturing the growth of every boy academically, physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and culturally. We believe that a joyful, caring, and forward-thinking environment lays the foundation for confident, curious learners who are eager to explore the world around them. We cater for boys from Grade 1 to Grade 3, with four vibrant classes in each grade.
Our approach embraces creativity and innovation in the classroom, encouraging boys to think independently, express themselves, and find joy in discovery. Learning is not just about ticking boxes, it’s about sparking imagination, building skills, and inspiring a lifelong love for learning.
To support a rich and dynamic learning experience, our boys are taught by specialist teachers in Music, Art, and Physical Education. These subjects provide wonderful opportunities for creative expression and physical development. Our PE programme also builds the foundational skills needed for various sports and includes a much-loved weekly swimming lesson during the first and fourth terms.

In the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3), we thoughtfully integrate technology into the learning experience to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and lay the groundwork for future-ready learners. From the very start, boys are introduced to essential technology skills through hands-on projects that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and exploration.
We also nurture computational thinking in age-appropriate ways, helping our learners develop logical reasoning and confidence when approaching challenges. Just as important, we guide them in becoming safe, responsible digital citizens, equipping them with the values and habits they’ll need to navigate the digital world with care and integrity.
There are two banks of school-owned Chromebooks in the foundation phase. These are used by the class teachers and the Coding and Robotics teacher. We remain mindful of ensuring a balanced approach to learners exposure to screen time, and have therefore implemented a structured booking system for the use of Chromebooks.
