Our Academic Vision
Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School values academic excellence, as well as cultivating skills in a variety of areas such as art, culture, technology, social awareness and sports to develop well rounded young gentlemen.
We seek to create lifelong learners who are confident and independent, literate, numerate and multi-skilled, compassionate, with a respect for the environment and the ability to participate in society as responsible and active citizens. To this aim, our dedicated staff work to very high standards to develop sound work ethics, self-discipline and learning skills to ensure that all of our learners are prepared for the future.
We adhere to the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) so formal assessments take place in every subject each term. Whilst examinations for Grades 4-7 are written twice a year in June and November. Regular parent / teacher meetings take place throughout the academic year and reports are emailed to parents at the end of each term.
In the Foundation Phase we aim to foster the development of the whole child – academically, physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually and culturally. We do this within the framework of a happy, nurturing and progressive school environment.
In the Intermediate Phase, pupils no longer learn to read, but read to learn. Thinking skills and application of knowledge become the focus of attention with specific instruction in specialised subjects. Additional disciplines include Natural Sciences and Technology and Social Sciences (History/Geography).
