As part of our Life Orientation curriculum, Grade 8–10 boys complete 16 hours of meaningful community service, 10 of which take place during school time.
Rooted in the spirit of Ubuntu, the programme fosters empathy, reflection, and a heart for service.
Here are some of our 2025 Community Service Highlights:
1. Gift of the Givers
Day 1: At the Youth In Action Expo, RBHS learners served 2,000+ hot meals.
Day 2: They packed and delivered food parcels to the Athlone School for the Blind.
Participants included: Mohammed Dadaker, Yahya Daware, Zaakir Hoosain, Nur Ismail, Rania Ismail (Wynberg Girls’ High), M. Fareed Sablay, Razeen Dalvie, Danyaal Fakier, Ali Sablay, Hon. Nonceba Mhlauli & Dr Imtiaz Sooliman.
2. Trawal Outreach
George Nuttall, Bjorn Morkel, Jack Bradshaw and Joe Linder helped build soccer nets for a local school.
3. Soup Kitchens
Morgan Parisi served at Methodist Church Wynberg; Gaddiel Mayu helped for two weeks at St John’s.
4. After-School Enrichment
Kian Hall, Cameron Dewar & Joel Arendse supported learners at Ikhaya Le Themba, Hout Bay.
5. Elderly Care
Jason Moodie & Xavier Basson assisted at Sencit Home. Another group visited Beit-ul-Aman.
6. Animal Welfare
At AACL: Ryan Gibbon, Henry Whitlock, Cam Edwards & Aragón Afonso
At Border Collie Rescue: Oscar Robertson, Ross Webber, Josh Berry, Jo Jennings, Connor Fincham
At Animal Welfare Society: cleaning, disinfecting, and puppy love!
7. Food Relief
Noa Duxbury, Luke Allen, Junior Ndaba, Max Botha, Hank Huang & Kael Williams packed parcels.
8. AMA Involvement
Adam Wepener, Adam Badsha, Hamaad Toffie & Zahran volunteered with the African Muslim Agency.
9. Environmental Action
RBHS boys joined the Newlands Forest “Day in a Ranger’s Boots” initiative.
10. Emergency Services
Sacha Weltman helped pack parcels at Lakeside Fire Station.
11. Urban Outreach
Learners joined the CCID’s teams to help clean the inner city.
12. U-Turn
Harley Schalker organised and delivered a donation.
