Congratulations to Troy McWilliam – the school is absolutely bursting with pride to celebrate his extraordinary achievements in the water.
Troy has officially been awarded his National Colours in Life Saving and has been selected to represent South Africa at a major competition in New Zealand later this year.
Added to this, Troy is a phenomenal Open Water Swimmer as well, having already represented South Africa in Eswatini and been selected for the team to compete in Kenya. Nationally, he is the top-ranked U17 in the grueling 5000m and 7500m freestyle events.
To earn National Colours in two distinct endurance swimming disciplines like Life Saving and Open Water Swimming—while simultaneously training for pool racing, maintaining high academic standards, and still navigating a normal school life—is a testament to incredible dedication, discipline, and sheer mental fortitude.
This level of excellence doesn’t come easy. It requires early mornings, late nights, countless kilometres in the pool, and an unwavering commitment to balancing sport and school.
Our best wishes go with Troy as he prepares for the competition while also focusing on his matric finals.
